Twenty Years of Experience
Dave White, President of Pioneer Logs, and his family have been building log homes for over 20 years. They have the best and most modern equipment available, and have sold logs across the entire
Western United States. "We now have sales representative in many Western States, and are looking for more dealers" states Dave. Pioneer
Logs, has sold literally hundreds of log homes. So many in fact, that Pioneer only provides
a list of current clients and the last ten log homes sold when asked for references. We want you
to know how well we are doing in keeping our clients happy. "A log home is like fine leather," "quotes Dave", they are
warm and comfortable, and seem to breathe. I have never found an odor or smell to stay long in a log cabin. Further more,
tests and experience indicates that log homes are safer. They catch fire less easily than conventional home
constructions and they seem to be almost earthquake proof."
Location
Dave's mills are located near the Ashley National Forest, which surrounds beautiful Flaming Gorge Dam and its Colorado River runoff.
"Our primary timber are lodgepole pines. "It's a unique timber source. It reaches a
height between 20 and 80 feet with a diameter of only 1 to 3 feet. This makes ideal timber for log home construction, but of little use for other
commercial endeavers.
Logs
We use dead standing lodgepole pines. Unlike other forest trees, most lodgepole pines do not live beyond 100 years. Undisturbed they remain standing for years more. Most of our logs have a moisture content of less than 10%, something unheard
of in most parts of the world. Until they are removed by fire or by logging lodgepoles remain standing, stopping
the growth of other more valuable trees. The lodgepole was first given the name lodgepole by
explorers Lewis and Clark. They observed that the Great Plains Indians would go up into the
mountains and cut down lodgepole pine tree to use as support for their lodges or tepees. Today, thousands
of families are still going into mountains to cut down lodgepole pines for their homes and lodges.

Quality Materials and Labor
Our logs are milled to the tightest specifications and are from the best available stands of timber.
Unlike some companies that must travel hundred of miles to buy lodgepole pines, we
are here, right at the source and we get the best "standing dead timber" available for our
customers. Our walls have the lowest shrinkage rate of any log homes and as such makes it easier to
build a quality home. We use only high quality thermal pane windows and steel exterior doors for very
energy efficient homes.
Pioneer Logs can meet all your construction needs, from supplying logs
to seeing your home totally built or any point in between. Plus we will be there
to answer all your questions, make sure your plans work on your location, and provide technical advice
for zoning and other construction restrictions. Some large national companies may be bigger but
they will not provide the personal service we furnish.
Satisfaction
People have long recognized pioneer logs as a name to be trusted. Our best source of advertising is word of
mouth. Our past customers recommend us to our new customers, that says a lot about us. Ron Thorne,
builder of 200 to 300 homes a year (Ron Thorne Const.), said:
"I could have had any company build my summer home, including my own crews. However, I choose Pioneer Logs because of their reputation integrity, building
experience, and ability to design a plan that met my needs. I am very pleased to recommend Pioneer Logs to
those interested in building a log home."
